on that long stretch of road down to cairo
through the ferris wheel of husk in late summer’s air
everybody’s waiting for the harvest
but i’’ll be buried in your golden hair
driving all the way down that old speedway

and i can’t drive on that 55 no more
old broadwell, lincoln, williams, mr. sherman
